About PZ2 Animal List

PZ2 Animal List is an unofficial reference for Planet Zoo 2, the zoo game by Frontier Developments released on October 13, 2026. It is run by an independent developer who wanted the answers to everyday planning questions in one place: how much space a full group needs, which species can share a habitat, and what barrier holds them.

Why it exists

The official Zoopedia shows one animal per page. To compare two species, or to find every animal that can live with a giraffe, you have to open many pages and do the sums yourself. This site loads all 136 species into tables you can filter, joins the compatibility lists from both animals' pages (they do not always agree), and works out totals, ranks, shared temperature ranges and combined barriers. The habitat planner and the guides are built on the same data.

Where the data comes from

Every raw value (area, shelter, temperature, group size, barrier, compatible species) comes from Frontier's public Planet Zoo 2 Zoopedia, last checked 2026-10-14. Nothing is copied from fan wikis except the first game's roster, which is used only to mark which animals are new in Planet Zoo 2. The calculations are explained on data and method, and every change to the site is listed on updates.

What it is not

This is a fan project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Frontier Developments, and it uses no official artwork, logos or screenshots. Frontier may change Zoopedia values in game updates; if a number here differs from what you see in the game, the game is right and this site needs a correction.
